Born in New Jersey, Janis Ian had her first hit record with the self-penned “Society’s Child” at the age of fifteen. Many years of touring and recording followed.

In 2001, following the advice of her friend Mike Resnick, she decided to finally get serious about writing, and turned to science fiction. Says Ian: “After forty years as a songwriter, it’s refreshing to finally be part of the mainstream.”
